Eterna sets a new record for potato exports to the EU

Eterna has set a record for potato exports to the European Union in 2023, according to the company’s CEO Mohamed El Sayed Hussein. This year, Eterna plans to deliver the largest volume of goods to the European market in the last three years. The company says that the increased interest of EU importers in Egyptian products is due to both the low potato harvest in the EU and the economic situation in Egypt itself. At the beginning of this year, it was obvious that Egypt would be able to increase its exports of fruits and vegetables thanks to the devaluation of the local currency, which made Egyptian products more attractive in terms of prices on foreign markets. In the first four months of this year, Eterna has already exported 56 thousand tons of potatoes to the EU. This is the highest result since 2021 and almost corresponds to the volume of deliveries for the same period in 2020. Only in 2019, 62 thousand tons of potatoes were exported from Egypt to the EU.
